We have some exciting programs for your children before school begins and into the fall!
Mathapalooza, Improvisation & Acting Games, Ages 6-9 Daniel Lipton, Instructor
This class will review elementary math concepts through games, songs, and stories. Our improvisation and acting games will include creativity, teamwork, thinking on your feet, and fun.
Thursday and Friday, September 10 and 11, 4:00-5:00PM. $50.
Harry Potter Extravaganza, Ages 6-9 Daniel Lipton, Instructor
Celebrate the world of Harry Potter through fun acting games, art, music, and literary activities. Activities include Harry Potter original games, learning to draw characters, Harry Potter trivia and riddle games, a Harry Potter escape room, Harry Potter songs and parodies, and more. Children are welcome to dress up as a favorite Harry Potter character.
2 Mondays, September 7 and 14, 5:00-6:00PM. Course, $50.
Minecraft Architecture, Ages 7-12 , Eric Hansen, Instructor
Work as a team to design and engineer a project such as the Death Star from Star Wars, the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, or a spectacular banquet room on a Carnival cruise ship. We’ll take time to talk about architectural strategies and good building practice. Once in action, students will learn how to use the “Wand tool,” a tool provided by SpecGraphixEDU that speeds up the placement of blocks. Students will also learn how to place unconventional blocks not normally included in Minecraft such as burgers, juice, computers, toasters, and over 100,000 other objects. Players of all levels are welcome. This class requires “Minecraft Java Edition” for Mac OS, Windows, or Linux. If you don’t have a license, the instructor can provide you with one, priced at a discounted rate. Instructions will be sent a day ahead of the class. Discounts or waivers do not apply.
3 Saturdays, September 12, 19, 26, 3:30-5:30PM. $90.
Photo Fun: Learn Gimp, Ages 8-12 , Eric Hansen, Instructor
Take and make magical photographs in this class where we’ll take a serious look at the art of photography while learning how to make our pictures more beautiful using a computer application called Gimp. No prior experience taking photos is necessary. Th required software “Gimp” for Mac OS or Windows is a free download at https://www.gimp.org/downloads. All experience levels are welcome.
